In India and China Fenugreek is used to treat arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, improve digestion, and maintain healthy metabolism, increase libido and male potency. Fenugreek also helps reduce cholesterol.

Native to Western Asia and southeastern Europe, fenugreek has a long history of use as a flavoring and medicine. The Latin name is taken from the triangular shape of the flower. Although prized in Middle Eastern and Indian cooking, it has yet to capture the imagination of Western Cooks.
A good source of protein, minerals, and vitamins, fenugreek is widely used by vegetarians in India.
Indian cooks make extensive use of fenugreek as vegetables, cooked with potatoes, spinach, or rice. The leaves are also chopped and added to the dough for Nan and Chapattis. Dried leaves are used to flavor sauces and gravies. Fenugreek is often used to make herb omelets.
Seeds are used in Indian Pickles and chutney, in the Southern spice blend of Sambhar powder.
Fenugreek is essential to Sambahr powder.
Good with fish curries, green and root vegetables.
Fenugreek combines well with cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, coriander, cumin, pepper and turmeric.
